Opinion of Citizen Reading Blog
From what I've read on this blog and what I already know I can formulate an idea of the YCJA. I think that the YCJA has its ups and downs. I like the example of the two teens who committed the same crime but are from different backgrounds. I think that yes, the child with a good background may have been a one time thing but if the system treats it as one then the chance that that child will re-offend is higher. Although, if the judge treats them the same as the teen with a bad background then there could be many complaints about how the good youth is well behaved and would never re-offend. I also believe that the fact that the YCJA makes the teens accountable for their actions. For example the boy who had to pay for that man's daughter's medical bills. That is a good idea to make the offender pay the victim for their actions.
