Opinion by Father of Beaten Child

My opinion on the YCJA is that they need to be stricter on how they sentence kids in court because my daughter was beaten with a baseball bat by another teen who got way out of hand, the police say that drugs and alcohol were involved. The judge went easier on him because it was the boys first offence but still was sentenced for 1 year less a day with drug and alcohol rehabilitation during sentence. I think that this child should have been sentenced for longer because of what he did to my daughter, I think that he should have been tried as an adult and put in jail for at least 4 years no bail or early release for good behaviour.  She now has permanent brain damage and has to take medication everyday. The judge also is making this boy pay for my daughter's medical bills, but I still think he should have to suffer as much as my daughter has.
